Description
Our Small Rustic Oak Sideboard
We build these sideboards out of real oak. They are heavy, they are stubborn, and they do not look like they came off a factory conveyor belt in pieces.
If you are looking for a flawless, plastic-smooth surface, look elsewhere.
Real wood has knots, grain patterns, and colour variations that change depending on the tree we cut. Over the years, this wood is going to change colour slightly and get its own character.
It is just how wood behaves.
Get your tape measure out before you buy. This is a compact unit, but if you have a narrow hallway or a tight corner, you might actually need a slim oak sideboard instead of this deeper model. Do not guess the measurements, because sending a heavy cupboard back because it blocks your front door is a headache for everyone involved.
The drawers have proper dovetail joints. No glue-and-staple nonsense here.
It comes fully built.
That means you do not have to spend your Saturday afternoon arguing over flat-pack instructions. But it also means you need two strong people to carry it from the front door to wherever you want to put it. Do not try to move it on your own unless you fancy a trip to the osteopath.
If you need something for your corridor, check our Hallway range. Alternatively, we make sturdier units for plates and pans in our Kitchen Storage section.
“This thing is a beast. It turned up fully built and took two of us to get it into the hallway. It has some natural knots in the wood which my wife loves, and it feels like it will survive our three kids. No cheap laminate in sight.”

Common Questions
How do I clean this sideboard? Wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. If you spill tea or water, wipe it up immediately. Do not leave wet cups sitting on the wood or it will leave a ring.
How long does delivery take? Standard delivery takes up to five business days. If you prefer, choose our premium option and we will carry it to your room of choice and take the cardboard away.
Do I need to oil the wood? It has a light protective finish already. Every six months or so, give it a quick wipe with a clear wax to keep the wood from drying out.
Will the drawers stick in winter? Real wood expands and contracts with humidity. If a drawer gets stiff in a damp house, rub a bit of candle wax on the runners.
Is the back made of cheap cardboard? No, we use real wood panels for the back and drawer bases. It makes the unit heavier but it will not bow or pop out when you stuff it full of clutter.
Pre-Purchase Questions
Is a slim oak sideboard better for a small hallway? If your hallway is narrow, yes. Measure your walkway carefully. A slim oak sideboard has a shallower depth, which stops people from knocking their hips against it.
Does this arrive flat-packed? No, it is fully assembled. We build it in the workshop so you do not have to spend hours with an Allen key. Just make sure it fits through your front door.
Why does the wood grain look different to the online photo? Because trees do not grow in a factory. Every piece of solid oak has its own unique knots, swirls, and colour variations.
Can it hold a large television? Yes, the top is solid wood and can take the weight easily. Just make sure the television stand fits within the width of the cabinet.
Troubleshooting & Styling Questions
How do I match this oak with my existing dark pine furniture? Do not try to match them perfectly. Mixing different wood tones actually looks more natural than having everything in the exact same shade.
How do I make this piece look right in a very small room? Keep the top clear of heavy clutter. A single lamp or a simple bowl is enough; if you pile it high, the room will look crowded.
What do I do if my dog scratches the leg? Do not panic. Because it is solid wood, you can gently sand down the scratch with fine sandpaper and apply a touch of clear wax or oil to blend it back in.
How do I stop the wood from fading? Keep it out of direct, harsh sunlight. If you place it right next to a south-facing window, the wood will naturally bleach over time.
