It will probably get a scratch or two over the next decade because someone dropped their keys on it or the cat decided it was a springboard. But that is the beauty of it. Will the colour change over time? Yes. It is a natural product. Sunlight will mellow the wood. It gets a bit of character. If you want something that never changes, buy a laminate.

How do I clean it? A damp cloth. Not soaking wet. Don’t use those nasty supermarket sprays with all the chemicals. Just a bit of elbow grease and maybe some wax every six months to keep it hydrated.

Is it actually solid wood? Yes. I wouldn’t sell it if it wasn’t. We use Solid Oak for the frames and tops. It is built to take a beating from a busy family.

Why is it so heavy? Because it is real wood. If it was light, you should be worried. The weight is what gives it stability. Just make sure you have someone to help you lift it so you don’t do your back in.
