Why you should buy a proper White Painted Sideboard With Oak Top instead of cheap flatpack
I spend most of my life covered in sawdust and shouting at the radio, so I don’t have time for fluff. I’ve seen enough flimsy, cardboard-backed furniture in my time to know what works and what ends up in a skip after six months. This White Painted Sideboard With Oak Top is the kind of thing I’d actually let into my own house. It is solid. No wobbles. No nonsense.
People often ask me why they should bother with a White Sideboard when they can get something cheaper online. Well, you get what you pay for. This is a 100cm wide sideboard that doesn’t feel like it’s made of air. We use Solid Oak for the tops because it handles the knocks of a real family home. If your kids are like mine, they’ll probably try to use it as a landing pad for their toys. This can take it.
It works well as Hallway Furniture if you’ve got the width, but most people stick it in the lounge. It sits nicely alongside other Oak Living Room Furniture. I’ve seen some people use them as a makeshift TV Unit too. It’s versatile. Just keep in mind it’s heavy. Don’t go trying to lug it up the stairs on your own or you’ll be calling the physio by Monday.
The drawers have enough room for all your bits and bobs. The cupboards hide the mess. That’s really all you want from Sideboards, isn’t it? Something that looks decent but actually does a job. We build these at Oak Castle Furniture to last a lifetime, not just a season. If you want something that stays looking brand new forever, buy plastic. If you want something with a bit of character that ages with the house, this is it.

“Fed up with flatpack that falls apart when you move it. This arrived in one piece and weighs a ton. The oak top is proper thick and the white paint is a nice clean shade, not that yellowy stuff you sometimes get. Sorted.”
Common Questions
Is the top actually solid wood? Yes. It is real oak. I wouldn’t sell it if it wasn’t. It’s finished with a natural stain so you can actually see the grain.
Does it come in a box for me to build? No. I hate flatpack. It comes fully assembled. The only thing you have to do is get it out of the packaging and find a place to put it.
Will the white paint scratch? It’s a hard-wearing paint, but it’s still paint. If you bash it with a vacuum cleaner, it might mark. The good thing is you can easily touch it up with a bit of similar paint, unlike plastic-coated furniture.
Is it big enough for a dining room? At 100cm wide, it’s a mid-sized unit. Great for plates and linens. If you have a massive farmhouse, you might want something bigger, but for a standard semi, it’s usually spot on.
How do I clean the oak top? Just a damp cloth. Don’t go drenching it in supermarket sprays full of chemicals. A bit of care goes a long way.
