Care & Maintenance

How do I clean my oak bedroom furniture?
Wipe it with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth, then dry it straight away with a clean towel. Do not leave water sitting on the wood, and completely avoid cheap aerosol polishes. They leave a sticky film that ruins the natural finish.

Should I keep my oak wardrobe or chest next to a radiator?
No. Keep it a few feet away from direct heat sources. Extreme heat dries out the wood, which can cause it to warp or split over time.

What should I do if my furniture gets scratched or scuffed?
Because it is solid wood all the way through, it is easy to fix. Rub the scratch gently with fine wire wool along the grain, then apply a bit of clear beeswax or furniture oil to seal it.

How do I fix a deeper scratch on a hard-lacquered oak surface?
You will need to sand the area down past the scratch with fine sandpaper, always following the grain. Once smooth, re-apply a matching clear lacquer or oil. It takes a bit of elbow grease but it is fixable.

How long does standard delivery take?

Measure your actual floor space and use masking tape to map it out. Do not forget to leave enough room for doors and drawers to open fully.

Because trees grow in forests, not chemical plants. Natural colour variations and knots are normal. No two pieces are identical.

Does your furniture arrive fully assembled?
Most of our cabinets and bedside tables come fully built. Wardrobes and bed frames are delivered in solid panels so you can actually get them up your stairs.

Is solid oak furniture heavy to move around?
Yes, it is dense and heavy. Do not try to carry a wardrobe up a flight of stairs on your own unless you want to hurt yourself. Get a mate to help, or pay for our premium delivery.

Can I mix oak furniture with other wood tones in the same room?
Yes. You do not need your bedroom to look like a sterile showroom. Mixing lighter oak with darker tones looks fine as long as you keep the shapes simple.

How do I choose oak furniture to make a small bedroom feel larger?
Look for pieces with raised legs rather than solid bases. Seeing the floor underneath tricks your eyes into thinking there is more space.

What do I do if a drawer starts sticking?
Rub a bit of candle wax or paraffin wax along the drawer runners. It lubricates the wood-on-wood contact and makes it slide smoothly again.
