Description
Small Rustic Oak Sideboard: Honest Wood for Real Homes
Look, it’s a small rustic oak sideboard. It’s heavy, it’s solid, and it does what it says on the tin.
This isn’t flat-pack cardboard that wobbles when you put a book on it. It is a solid piece of timber, built to take a beating from kids, dogs, or whatever else your family throws at it.
Get your tape measure out before you buy.
It measures W: 75cm by D: 32cm, so it is a compact unit. We call it a small oak cupboard because it fits in tight corners, but it is still heavy enough that you will want two people to move it.
We did not polish this to a mirror finish. It has got knots, grain patterns, and colour variations because that is what real wood does. If you want something perfect and characterless, buy plastic.
We coat it in a light lacquer to stop your tea mugs from leaving instant rings, but if you abuse it, it will scratch. That is just the truth of it.
Drawers have proper dovetail joints. No glue-and-staple nonsense here. They open and close without a fuss, and we have put antique-style metal handles on them because they work and they do not break.
It comes fully built. You do not have to spend your Saturday afternoon arguing over a hex key. Just get it out of the box and put it where you want it.
If you are sorting out your entrance, this works well as a sturdy piece for your Hallway. Or you can use it for extra plates in the kitchen; we have more options over in our Kitchen Storage section if this one is not quite right.
Solid Wood vs The Alternatives
| Material | Durability | Cost | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid Oak | Lasts decades. Hard to dent. | Higher upfront, but buy it once. | Occasional dust and light wax. |
| Flat-pack MDF | Falls apart if you move it twice. | Cheap. | Can’t be repaired once swollen. |
| Solid Pine | Dents if you look at it wrong. | Mid-range. | Needs regular upkeep. |
“Arrived fully built and weighs an absolute ton. My kids have already bashed their toys into it and you can’t even tell. Proper solid furniture.”

Questions We Get Asked
How do I clean this sideboard?
Just wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Don’t use harsh chemical sprays, as they will ruin the lacquer finish over time.
How long does standard delivery take?
We get it to you within five business days, and we will send you a tracking number so you can see where it is.
Do I need to wax or oil it?
It is already lacquered, so you do not need to oil it right away. An occasional wipe down with a bit of beeswax every few months keeps the wood happy.
Will hot plates damage the surface?
Yes, they will. Use a mat or a coaster, unless you want permanent white rings on your wood.
What happens if it arrives damaged?
We built it to last, but if the courier drops it, we will swap it out or fix it under our five-year guarantee.
Is this small oak cupboard delivered fully assembled?
Yes, it comes out of the box in one piece. You won’t need to spend hours deciphering instruction manuals or looking for missing screws.
How do I know if this sideboard will fit my room?
Get your tape measure out. It is exactly 75cm wide, 75cm high, and 32cm deep, so measure your floor space and door clearance before ordering.
Does the wood grain look exactly like the pictures?
No, it won’t. Every tree grows differently, so the grain patterns and natural knots will vary from piece to piece.
Is solid oak furniture heavy to move?
Yes, it is very heavy. If you plan to move it upstairs, make sure you have a second person to help you lift it safely.
How do I blend solid oak with other wood tones in my room?
Don’t try to match them perfectly, because you won’t. Just place it naturally; different wood grains and tones actually look better when they don’t look like a matching showroom set.
How do I fix minor scratches or scuffs on the finish myself?
Rub a bit of matching wax polish over the scratch with a soft cloth. For deeper scuffs, a light rub with fine wire wool and some wax will sort it right out.
Will this sideboard warp or crack near a radiator?
Wood breathes and reacts to heat. Keep it away from direct contact with radiators or damp walls to prevent the timber from moving or splitting.
