Why you actually need a Nest of Oak Tables and why white paint is a gamble
I have spent more years than I care to admit in dusty workshops, and if there is one thing I have learned, it is that people overthink furniture. You want something to put a mug of tea on. You want it to not wobble when the dog brushes past it. This Nest of Oak Tables does exactly that without making a fuss about it.
It is a simple bit of kit, really. You get two tables. One is smaller, one is larger. They slot together. It is not rocket science, but it works for anyone who lives in a house that is not a palace. If you have a small living room, these are a lifesaver. You pull the little one out when you have guests and shove it back under when you want your floor space back.
The tops are Solid Oak. I like oak because it is stubborn. It handles a bit of weight and does not complain. The body is painted white, which looks smart enough, but I will be honest with you: if you bash it with a vacuum cleaner every Monday, the paint will mark. That is the trade-off for the “clean” look. If you want something that looks like a sterile hospital wing, buy plastic. If you want something with a bit of soul, this is it.
We do a whole range of this stuff, part of the Barcelona Oak collection. It is decent, sturdy gear. I have seen people use these as Side Tables in the lounge or even as Bedside Tables if their Bedroom Furniture is a bit cramped. They arrive at your door already built. I do not believe in making you spend your Saturday afternoon fighting with an Allen key and a confusing manual written in three languages.
At Oak Castle Furniture, we do not go in for that flimsy, hollow-core nonsense. These have a bit of heft to them. They are Oak Living Room Furniture pieces designed for actual families who spill things and drop remotes. They are not “exquisite” or “stunning”—they are just proper tables.
“Solid little set of tables. They feel much heavier than the cheap ones I saw in the big retail parks. The white paint is a nice contrast to the oak tops, though I’ve already had to wipe some crayon off the side. Wiped off fine.”

Common Questions from the Workshop
Do I have to build these myself? No. If I wanted you to build it, I would have sent you a bag of screws and a prayer. It comes out of the box ready to hold your drink.
Is the top actually wood or just a sticker? It is real oak. I do not do stickers. You can feel the grain. It is a natural product, so each one looks a bit different. That is the point.
Will the white paint go yellow? Not if you keep it out of direct, blistering sunlight for ten years straight. We use decent paint, but like anything, if you abuse it, it will show.
How do I clean the oak part? A damp cloth is usually enough. Do not soak it. If you want to be fancy, a bit of good quality wax once a year keeps it happy.
Are they big enough for a laptop? The large one is fine for a laptop and a coffee. The small one is more for your phone or a plate of toast. Don’t try and run an office from it, but for casual use, it’s sorted
