Small Oak Dining Table

Most people try to cram a massive table into a kitchen that cannot handle it. It is a mistake. You end up shimmying past the chairs just to get to the kettle. A compact oak dining table gives you room to breathe. It is heavy. I will tell you that now. If you are the type who likes to move your furniture every Tuesday, you are going to struggle. But that weight is why it does not wobble when you are cutting a steak.

I have seen the cheap stuff fall apart after a year. The joints go. The top peels. With Solid Oak, you get what you pay for. It has knots. It has grain. It might even have a bit of character you did not expect. If you drop a fork and it marks the wood, you just sand it out and put a bit of oil on it. Try doing that with a plastic-coated board from a big-box retailer. You cannot.

If you have a few more people coming over for Christmas, you might want a small extending dining table. It stays out of the way during the week and grows when you need it. Look, I am not here to tell you it is “stunning” or “game-changing.” It is a place to eat your dinner. But if you buy a solid oak dining table, you only buy it once. My kids have climbed on mine, I have spilt coffee on it, and it still looks like a table. That is more than I can say for most things these days. Common Questions

Will the wood change colour over time? Yes. It is a natural product. Sunlight will mellow the oak. It usually gets a bit deeper and richer. If you want something that stays exactly the same colour forever, buy a laminate floor.

Is it hard to put together? Most of our tables come with the tops finished. You might have to bolt the legs on. It is not rocket science. We provide the bits and bobs you need. Just don’t over-tighten them.

What happens if I spill wine on it? Wipe it up. Now. Oak is hardy, but it is porous. If you leave a puddle of red wine on it overnight, you are going to have a purple ring. Use a coaster. It isn’t hard.

Can I use it as a desk? You can use it as a workbench if you want. It is solid enough. It is a better height for eating, but if you want to stick a laptop on it in the corner of the room, it won’t complain.
