Let’s not overcomplicate this because a table just needs to hold your plates and not wobble. We build this one from solid oak and real oak veneer, meaning it is heavy, it is blunt, and it does the job.

If you have toddlers who like throwing metal toy cars around, they will dent it. That is what real wood does, and we think those marks just tell a story. If you want a flawless surface that looks like a hospital corridor forever, buy plastic or glass instead.

This is basically a classic oak dining table farmhouse style but without the silly frills or fake distressed paint jobs. It is just clean, natural timber finished with a light stain to stop your spilled gravy from sinking into the grain.

It comes partially built because we do not believe in flat-pack cardboard. That also means it arrives in a massive box. It is heavy, so do not try to lug it up three flights of stairs on your own unless you fancy a trip to the osteopath.

Can I put hot coffee cups straight on the wood? No. Use a coaster, or you will end up with white rings that are a pain to get out.

Will the wood grain look exactly like the pictures? No, every tree is different. You will get unique knots and swirls, which is the whole point of buying real wood.
