Solid Oak TV Stands for 45 Inch Screens

Buying a TV stand is usually a pain.

Most stuff you buy online is made of compressed sawdust and paper glue. Put a heavy 45-inch television on it, and the middle will start sagging within a month. Our units are made of solid oak, meaning they are heavy, stubborn, and do not bend.

They will scratch if your kid drags a metal toy across them, but at least they won’t snap in half.

A 45-inch screen is about a metre wide. If you buy a stand that is exactly that size, it looks ridiculous. You need some space on the sides. We build these cabinets wide enough so the screen does not hang over the edges.

No flat-pack here.

I do not have time to write forty-page instruction manuals, so we build these in our workshop and ship them whole. They are heavy, so do not try to carry them upstairs on your own unless you fancy hurting your back. There are real cable holes in the back, not flimsy cardboard you have to kick through with your boot.

It is just honest wood.

“It is heavy as lead, but it does not budge. My toddler bashed his toy truck against the corner and the toy broke, not the wood. Glad I did not have to build it myself.”

Frequently Asked Questions

General Care & Delivery

  • How do I clean my new oak TV stand? Dust it with a dry cloth. Do not use chemical sprays or polish from a supermarket, as they leave a sticky film that ruins the finish.
  • How long does standard delivery take? We get it to your door within five business days. We will send a tracking link so you can see when it is arriving.
  • Do I need to oil or wax the cabinet? Yes, rub some clear wax on it twice a year. It keeps the wood from drying out if you keep your heating high.
  • Is the unit delivered fully assembled? Yes, we build them in the workshop. You just have to drag it out of the cardboard box.
  • What should I do if I spill water on the wood? Wipe it off straight away. If you leave a wet glass on it overnight, you will end up with a white ring that is a pain to get out.

Pre-Purchase Questions

  • What width should a TV stand for a 45 inch TV be? A 45-inch TV is roughly a metre wide. Buy a stand that is at least 110cm wide so the screen does not stick out over the sides.
  • Are fully assembled oak TV stands sturdier than flat-pack? Yes, because we use proper joinery instead of plastic pegs and glue. It will not wobble when you walk past.
  • Will the wood grain on my unit match the pictures exactly? No, every tree grew differently. You will get different knots and grain lines, which is the whole point of buying real wood.
  • How durable is solid oak against daily family life? It is tough enough to survive toys and vacuum cleaners. If it gets a deep scratch, you can sand it out, which you cannot do with cheap board.

Troubleshooting & Styling

  • How can I blend a new oak TV unit with different wood tones in my room? Do not try to match everything perfectly, as that looks like a cheap hotel. Just use a few dark or light accessories to tie the room together.
  • How do I choose a TV unit to make a small living room feel larger? Get something with open shelves or legs so you can see the floor underneath. It makes the room feel less crowded.
  • How do I fix a minor scratch on a lacquered oak finish? Rub a bit of clear furniture wax or a drop of vegetable oil into the scratch with a soft cloth. If it is deep, you will need a proper wax repair crayon.
