Let’s get one thing straight. This bookcase is heavy. If you plan on moving it up three flights of stairs by yourself, you are going to regret it.

We built this rustic oak unit for people who are tired of flat-pack furniture that wobbles if you sneeze near it. It is made from solid oak and real oak veneer, meaning it has the weight to hold a full library without bowing. We do not do fancy, high-gloss finishes that look like plastic. We stain it to bring out the knots and splits in the grain, so no two of these look identical.

How do I clean this bookcase?
Dust it with a dry microfibre cloth. If you spill something, wipe it up immediately with a slightly damp cloth, then dry it. Do not use cheap supermarket spray polishes because they leave a sticky silicone buildup that ruins the wood over time.

How heavy is it?
It is around 40kg. It is a solid piece of timber, so do not try to lift it on your own unless you fancy a trip to the chiropractor.

Does it need assembly?
No. We build it in our workshop and deliver it as a solid unit. You just need to make sure it fits through your front door and around your hallway corners.

Will the colour fade over time?
Yes, if you put it directly in front of a south-facing window. Natural timber reacts to UV light, so try to keep it out of constant, direct sunlight and away from hot radiators.

How long does standard delivery take?
We will have it at your door within five business days, and we will send you a tracking link so you do not have to sit around guessing when we will arrive.

Why are there knots and cracks in the wood?
Because it is real wood. Trees grow with branches, which leave knots, and temperature changes cause natural splits. These do not affect the strength of the shelves at all.

Is it sturdy enough for heavy textbooks?
Yes. Unlike cheap particle board, these shelves will not bend or dip under the weight of heavy books.

How do I know if it fits my room?
Get your tape measure out. The unit is 75cm wide, but you need to allow a bit of breathing room on either side so it does not look wedged into place.

How do I blend this oak with lighter pine furniture?
Do not try to match them. Use the darker oak as your main piece, and let the lighter pine sit elsewhere in the room. Wood tones do not need to match to look good.

Will this make a narrow hallway feel too cramped?
At 30cm deep, it is quite slim, but you still need to make sure you have enough space to walk past without knocking your elbows.

How do I fix a scratch from my dog or cat?
Rub a small amount of clear furniture wax into the scratch with a soft cloth. It will blend back into the natural grain and disappear.
