Description
Real Wood : The Oak Glass Display Cabinet
Look, if you want some flimsy, flat-pack box that you can carry under one arm, keep walking.
This oak glass display cabinet weighs 68 kilos. That means you are going to need two proper, strong people to move it, and you should probably get your tape measure out to check your door frames before you even think about ordering.
It is solid oak.
Wood has knots, swirls, and colour variations. We do not paint over them because that is what real timber looks like. If you want something that looks perfectly uniform and sterile, buy plastic.
We put glass shelves in it.
They let the light through so you can actually see whatever you put inside, whether that is old books, plates, or some family bits and bobs. There is a key lock on the door too, mostly because we know what kids are like when they see shiny things behind glass.
It comes fully built.
You do not have to spend your Saturday afternoon arguing over an allen key and a confusing instruction booklet. We built it in our workshop, boxed it up, and that is how it arrives.
It will scratch if you drag sharp things across it.
That is just the nature of timber. Wipe it down with a dry cloth when it gets dusty, keep it out of the blistering sun so it does not dry out, and it will outlast both of us.
If you need simple book storage without the glass doors, take a look at our Living Room Bookcases. Or, if you need something more heavy-duty for kitchen pots and pans, try our Kitchen Storage units.
Comparing Your Options
| Cabinet Type | Durability | Cost | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solid Oak | Lasts decades. Heavy and sturdy. | Higher upfront cost but buy it once. | Needs occasional dusting and wax. |
| Cheap Flat-Pack | Wobbly. Pegs strip easily. | Cheap, but you will replace it in two years. | None, you just throw it away. |
| Painted MDF | Chips easily and cannot be repaired. | Mid-range. | Hard to clean once paint chips. |
“It arrived fully built and it took two of us to get it into the corner. Proper solid stuff, none of that cheap cardboard backing. The lock actually works too.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I clean the glass and the wood?
Use a standard glass cleaner on a cloth for the glass panels. For the wood, just use a dry, soft cloth to wipe away dust, and never spray wet cleaners directly onto the timber.
How long does standard delivery take?
We will have it at your door within 5 business days. You will get a tracking number to see where it is.
Can I leave this cabinet right next to a radiator?
Do not do that. Direct heat sources will dry out the oak, which can cause the wood to warp or split over time.
What happens if a glass breaks?
The glass is tough, but if you do manage to break one, get in touch. We can help you get a replacement sorted out.
Do I need to anchor this unit to the wall?
At 68kg, it is very stable on its own. However, if you have toddlers who might try to climb it, we always recommend anchoring it for safety.
Is this display cabinet delivered fully assembled?
Yes, it comes completely built. You just need to take it out of the box and put the glass shelves on their supports.
Will the wood grain look exactly like the picture?
No. Every tree has its own pattern of knots and swirls, so your cabinet will have its own unique look.
What is the actual width of this unit?
It is exactly 80cm wide. Make sure you measure your wall space before you buy.
How do I blend this oak cabinet with darker wood furniture in my room?
Do not worry about matching everything perfectly. Mixed wood tones look more natural and lived-in than a matching showroom set.
Can I use this cabinet in a narrow room without making it feel cramped?
Yes, because the glass doors and shelves let light pass right through, which keeps the room feeling open.
How do I fix minor scratches or scuffs on the oak finish?
Rub a bit of clear furniture wax or oil into the scratch with a soft cloth. It will blend back into the natural grain.
