A decent Oak Sideboard is a beast. It is heavy. You will need two people to move it, and you will probably moan about your back the next day. But once it is in your living room, it is not going anywhere. It does not wobble when you put the good plates inside. It just sits there and does its job. I have seen people try to save a few quid on cheap alternatives, but they always end up back here eventually. You can read my Buying an Oak Sideboard: Shopping Guide if you want the full breakdown of what to look for, but it usually comes down to weight and joinery.
I like Sideboards because they hide the mess. Life is messy. Kids have toys, you have paperwork, and there is always a pile of bits and bobs that needs a home. You shove it all in, close the doors, and the room looks sorted. The Oak Living Room Furniture we build is meant to be used, not just looked at. It will get a scratch eventually. Someone will drop a set of keys or a mug. That is fine. You just give it a bit of a sand and some oil. I have written a bit about Oak Sideboard Care: Protecting Your Investment so you do not have to guess how to fix it.
We have got different sizes, from a 100cm wide sideboard for tight corners to much bigger units. They all show the natural grain. No two look identical because trees do not grow in a factory. If you want something perfectly uniform, you are in the wrong place. But if you want something solid that handles the chaos of a family home, this is it.
“It arrived fully built and it took two of us just to get it into the lounge. Proper solid wood. It has already survived my toddler hitting it with a toy truck, which is more than I can say for our old one.”

Common questions
Is it actually solid wood? Yes. If you knocked on it, you would know. It is not that hollow-sounding stuff you find in big-box retail stores.
How do I look after it? Keep it away from direct radiators if you can. Wood breathes. Give it a wax or oil once or twice a year. It is not hard work.
Does it come in pieces? No. Most of our range comes fully built. It is stronger that way. Just make sure you measure your hallway before you order.
What if I spill something? Wipe it up. Do not let it sit there. If it stains, you can usually sand it back because it is solid wood all the way through.
Will the colour change? A little bit. Oak mellows with age. It gets a bit deeper and richer as it sits in the sun. That is part of the charm.
